This medication helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. In particular, it lowers the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke in adults with risk factors for coronary heart disease or patients with type 2 diabetes, and it also reduces the risk of revascularization and angina. Additionally, in patients who already have coronary heart disease, it effectively reduces the associated risks of myocardial infarction, stroke, congestive heart failure, and angina. This drug is also used for the treatment of hyperlipidemia, lowering total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglyceride levels while increasing HDL cholesterol levels, providing help to various patients with dyslipidemia. It can also be used alongside dietary therapy to improve cholesterol levels in pediatric patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. Therefore, this medication is widely used to improve cardiovascular disease and hyperlipidemia risk factors.
