Precautions

This medication should not be administered to certain patients. For instance, patients who have had an allergy to this medication or its ingredients, patients with orthostatic hypotension due to sudden drops in blood pressure, patients with severely impaired liver function, and women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take this medication. Additionally, patients with severely impaired kidney function, the elderly, and patients taking specific antihypertensive medications or other drugs should use this medication cautiously. Particularly, care should be taken when taking antihypertensive agents or PDE5 inhibitors (ed erectile dysfunction treatment), as there is a risk of blood pressure dropping too low. When taking this medication, symptoms such as dizziness or fainting may occur, so caution is necessary when driving or engaging in hazardous activities such as working at heights. Rarely, allergic reactions such as skin rashes, itching, and hives may occur, and if such symptoms arise, it is necessary to discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, constipation, and diarrhea may occur, and liver function abnormalities or jaundice symptoms may also occasionally develop, so careful monitoring is required. This medication can lower blood pressure, so care must be taken to avoid overdose, and special attention should be given to blood pressure changes when changing positions. This medication mainly serves to alleviate symptoms; if it is ineffective, other treatment options such as surgery may need to be considered. As with other alpha-1 blocker medications, there is a rare risk of priapism occurring, and if such symptoms occur, immediate treatment is necessary. Furthermore, patients who are taking, or have previously taken, this medication should inform medical personnel prior to cataract or glaucoma surgery, as specific ophthalmic complications may occur during the procedure. Patients with allergies to sulfonamide antibiotics should exercise particular caution when using this medication. This medication is not to be used in children or pregnant women; the elderly should begin at a lower dose and gradually adjust the dosage, considering their kidney function. When taking this medication, it should be removed from the packaging and taken whole; do not chew or break the capsule or extended-release tablets, and always take with water. Lastly, this medication should be stored out of reach of children, and it is advisable not to transfer it to other containers.
