This medication is used for the treatment of hypertension or stable angina, as well as myocardial ischemia caused by vascular spasms. Additionally, it lowers the risk of hospitalization for patients with angina who have recently been diagnosed with coronary artery disease through angiography but do not have heart failure or have a left ventricular ejection fraction of 40% or greater. It also has the effect of reducing the risks associated with coronary artery revascularization. This drug alleviates the symptoms of cardiovascular diseases, protects heart function, and contributes to improving the health of patients. Therefore, it is widely used for the treatment of hypertension and coronary artery diseases.

Precautions

This drug should not be used in certain patients. For example, people with allergies to this drug or others in the same class, nursing women, severely impaired liver function patients, patients with severe aortic stenosis, and those in shock should not take this medication. Furthermore, it should be used with caution in patients with very low blood pressure, those requiring renal dialysis, the elderly, and pregnant women or women who may become pregnant. While taking this drug, various side effects may occur. The most common side effects include flushing, fatigue, swelling, a rapid heartbeat, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, abdominal pain, and nausea. Rarely, serious side effects such as low blood pressure, skin rash, allergic reactions, and liver dysfunction have been reported, so any unusual symptoms should prompt immediate consultation with a physician. Special care is needed when administering this drug to patients with heart failure or impaired liver function, and blood pressure can gradually decrease even after discontinuing the medication, so caution is advised when using other antihypertensive medications. This drug may enhance the blood pressure-lowering effect when taken with grapefruit or grapefruit juice, so it is advisable to avoid consuming them together. Additionally, interactions with specific antibiotics or other medications may increase the risk of side effects, so patients should inform their doctor or pharmacist of any current medications. Pregnant or nursing women are advised against using this drug as its safety has not been established, except in special cases. Particularly for nursing mothers, it is recommended to discontinue breastfeeding while taking this medication. In cases of overdose, blood pressure may drop too low, and heartbeats may become irregular. If such symptoms occur, immediate medical attention should be sought. Gastric lavage or the administration of medicinal charcoal may be helpful in overdose cases, and in severe cases, specialized cardiovascular treatment may be required. This drug can also be used in children; however, its effectiveness and safety have not been adequately established for children under 6 years of age. It can be administered at standard doses for the elderly, but their physical condition should be closely monitored. Lastly, it is known that this drug does not impair driving or machine operation ability, but dizziness or drowsiness may occur in some individuals, so caution should be exercised.
