This medication is used to effectively lower blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled with either amlodipine or valsartan monotherapy.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

The recommended dosage of this medication is one tablet once a day, taken with water regardless of meals. It is advised to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). The dosage may be adjusted according to blood pressure control status to 5/80 mg, 5/160 mg, or 10/160 mg.

Children's dosage

Safety and efficacy have not been established for pediatric patients under 18 years of age, so administration of this medication is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It should not be used in patients with allergies to any of the ingredients or similar medications, pregnant or nursing women, or patients with severe renal or hepatic dysfunction. Patients with sodium or fluid depletion should correct their condition before taking this medication and carefully observe blood pressure and symptoms during treatment. Patients with high potassium levels or those taking potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics should frequently monitor potassium levels. Patients with renal issues or those who have received a kidney transplant should monitor renal function changes while taking this medication. Patients with heart failure or those who have had a myocardial infarction should regularly assess renal function during therapy with this medication. This medication is not recommended for children as its safety and efficacy have not been established in this population. Elderly individuals can take the usual adult dosage, but they should be monitored carefully. Caution is advised as dizziness or fatigue may occur when driving or operating machinery. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension and reduced cardiac function may occur, and immediate medical attention should be sought for appropriate treatment. This medication may interact with other antihypertensive drugs, potassium supplements, certain diuretics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and lithium preparations, so it is essential to consult with a physician or pharmacist before taking them together. Women planning to become pregnant or who may be pregnant should consult a doctor before taking this medication, and nursing mothers are advised to avoid it.
