This medication is used to treat gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers. It also helps improve damage to the gastric mucosa caused by acute and chronic gastritis. In patients with peptic ulcers due to Helicobacter pylori infection, it is used in combination with antibiotics to assist in effective treatment. This medication is also administered to stabilize gastric conditions before anesthetic preparation for surgery. It is particularly effective in relieving symptoms and contributing to the treatment of patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease. Overall, this medication is widely used for the treatment of various gastric-related diseases.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to its components. In addition, due to the presence of lactose, patients with genetic issues such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, and glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take it. Patients with a history of drug hypersensitivity, hepatic impairment, renal impairment, dialysis patients, and the elderly should use this medication with caution. This medication may occasionally cause serious allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, so if symptoms such as difficulty breathing, pale face, or low blood pressure occur during administration, the medication should be stopped immediately, and treatment should be sought. Liver function disorders or jaundice may occur, so regular liver function tests should be conducted, and if abnormalities are found, administration should be halted. Blood-related symptoms such as agranulocytosis or thrombocytopenia may arise, so if symptoms such as pharyngalgia, fever, or general lethargy occur, medical consultation should be sought immediately. Additionally, rare serious side effects such as skin rash, seizures, and heart block have been reported, so any abnormal symptoms should be reported to medical personnel without delay. Various mild side effects such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, headache, insomnia, and dizziness may occur, so careful monitoring is essential when symptoms arise. If a malignant tumor is suspected, this medication may alleviate symptoms or delay diagnosis; therefore, tests should be conducted if symptoms such as weight loss, recurrent vomiting, or hematemesis occur. Elderly patients may have reduced bodily functions, so dosing and intervals should be adjusted, and their condition should be closely monitored. Dialysis patients may experience increased serum drug concentrations, so administration should be started cautiously at a low dose. Pregnant women should take this medication only when the therapeutic benefits outweigh the risks, and breastfeeding women are advised against using this medication as it may be excreted in breast milk. Safety in pediatric patients has not been established, so this medication should not be used in children as a principle. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and it should not be transferred to another container from its original one. Although carcinogenicity was not observed in animal experiments, hyperplasia of endocrine neurocytes was reported at high doses, and some side effects were observed in reproductive developmental toxicity testing, but there were no malformations.
