Treatment of primary hyperlipidemia (hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia)
This medication is used for typical diseases such as primary hyperlipidemia including hypercholesterolemia (Type IIa), combined hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia (Type IIb, III), and hypertriglyceridemia (Type IV).
Fenofibrate 160 mg orally once daily immediately after meals.
This medication should not be used in patients with impaired liver function. Patients with moderate to severe renal impairment should also not receive this drug, as there is a risk of severe muscle damage. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, and nursing mothers should not take this medication. Patients with allergies to this drug or its ingredients should avoid taking it. It is also advisable not to administer this drug to patients with gallbladder problems or a history of gallstones. Patients who have previously shown hypersensitivity to sunlight while taking fibrates or ketoprofen, children, patients with biliary issues, and those with pancreatitis should not use this medication. Additionally, this drug contains lactose, so patients with certain genetic lactose intolerance should avoid it, and patients with allergies to soybean oil, soy, or peanuts should exercise caution. Patients with mild renal impairment or liver dysfunction should use this medication cautiously and may need to reduce the dosage or increase the interval between doses. Patients with hypoalbuminemia, a history of gallstones, those taking anticoagulants, elderly patients, and individuals with lipid metabolism disorders should also be monitored closely. This medication may affect the liver and bile ducts, leading to elevated liver enzymes or conditions such as gallstones or hepatitis; thus, regular liver function testing is required. Skin rashes or itching, and in rare cases, hair loss may occur. Symptoms such as dizziness, headache, myalgia, muscle cramps, or thrombosis may appear, and if any unusual symptoms occur, seek medical advice immediately. Gastrointestinal disturbances such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea may occur, and pancreatitis may develop rarely. This medication may alter blood test values, so regular blood tests are recommended. If symptoms such as myalgia, weakness, or elevated creatine kinase levels occur, discontinue the medication and consult a doctor. Interactions may occur when this drug is taken with other specific medications, especially anticoagulants, hypoglycemic agents, and certain cholesterol-lowering drugs; therefore, consult a healthcare professional before concurrent use. This drug should not be taken during pregnancy as it may harm the fetus, and it is also advisable to avoid taking it while nursing. It should not be used in children, and in elderly patients, if renal function is impaired, precaution is especially necessary. There is no specific antidote for overdose, so dosages should be strictly followed, and it should be kept out of reach of children. Transferring this medication to another container is not advisable as it may adversely affect quality.
Urticaria, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweats, paleness, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in oral or ocular mucosa, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory problems accompanied by cough and fever, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), extreme fatigue, sudden and severe headache, lightning headache, seizures, confusion, vision abnormalities, paralysis, urine.
Elevated serum aminotransferase levels, hepatomegaly, cholestatic hepatitis, gallstones, rash, itching, photosensitivity reactions, hair loss, weakness, fever, dizziness, headache, peripheral neuropathy, thromboembolism, elevated creatine kinase (CK), myalgia, muscle cramps, arthralgia, gastrointestinal disorders (abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bloating), seizures, decreased hemoglobin, leukopenia, eosinophilia, elevated serum creatinine and urea.

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to protect it from air and moisture. Also, it is advisable to store the medication at room temperature between 1°C and 30°C, avoiding extreme heat or cold.
