View approved original text

This medication is primarily used for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis and shoulder periarthritis. Knee osteoarthritis is a condition where the cartilage of the knee joint is damaged, leading to pain and restricted movement, while shoulder periarthritis is an inflammatory condition around the shoulder. This medication helps alleviate pain and reduce inflammation, contributing to the improvement of joint function. Therefore, it is effective for pain relief and inflammation treatment in the knee and shoulder joints.

How it is given

Adult administration

Generally, 1 syringe is administered intra-articularly in the knee or shoulder once a week for 3 consecutive weeks. The frequency of administration should be adjusted based on symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with a history of allergic reactions to its ingredients. Patients with a history of allergy to other medications or those with liver dysfunction or a past history of liver disease should use this medication with caution. If there is a skin condition or infection at the joint site, the condition should be carefully assessed before administering this medication. Severe allergic reactions such as shock may occur when using this medication. If any unusual symptoms appear, the administration should be stopped immediately, and appropriate treatment should be sought. Symptoms such as swelling of the face or around the eyes, rashes, or itching can occur; if these symptoms appear, discontinue use and consult a physician. Temporary pain, swelling, redness, or warmth may occur at the injection site, and these symptoms should also be carefully monitored. Rarely, systemic symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, or fever may appear. If there is severe inflammation in the joint, this medication may exacerbate the inflammation. It is advisable to use it after the inflammation has subsided. After administration, care should be taken to stabilize the joint area and avoid overexertion. If the medication leaks outside the joint, pain may occur, so it is important to administer it accurately within the joint. Injections must be performed in a sterile environment, and if symptoms do not improve, only three injections should be administered before discontinuation. If there is fluid accumulation in the joint, it may need to be drained before administration. This medication should not be injected into the bloodstream, nor is it suitable for use in the eyes. It is advisable to use a needle gauge of 22-23. This medication may form precipitates when used with certain antiseptics, so caution is advised. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication only when the benefits outweigh the risks, and nursing mothers should avoid breastfeeding during treatment. Safety has not been adequately established for children, so it should be used cautiously only when necessary. Elderly patients should use this medication with extra caution due to potential declines in physical function.
