How to take

Adult dose

As sildenafil, the recommended dose is 25 to 50 mg taken orally about 1 hour before sexual activity, and it may be taken anywhere from 4 hours to 30 minutes before sexual activity as needed. The dosage may be adjusted based on efficacy and tolerability. The following patients should adjust the initial dose to 25 mg: - those over 65 years old - liver dysfunction (cirrhosis) - severe renal insufficiency (creatinine clearance of 30 mL/min or less)

Precautions

This medication may cause excessively low blood pressure when taken with nitrate preparations that lower blood pressure or NO donors, so physicians must confirm whether patients are taking such medications before prescribing this drug. Patients with cardiovascular disease should carefully evaluate their heart condition before using this drug, and sexual activity that could stress the heart should be approached with caution. This drug can temporarily lower blood pressure through vasodilation, thus patients with cardiovascular disease should be particularly careful. Patients with recent arrhythmias, heart failure, unstable angina, hypotension, hypertension, or pigmentary retinopathy should consult their physician before using this drug. If an erection lasts more than 4 hours or is accompanied by pain, immediate medical attention should be sought to prevent permanent damage. This drug may be dangerous for patients with certain heart conditions or impaired blood pressure regulation, so caution is required. Taking it with specific medications such as Ritonavir can significantly increase the blood concentration of this drug, heightening the risk of side effects; therefore, dosage adjustments may be necessary for such patients. Aspartame is included as an artificial sweetener, so patients with phenylketonuria should avoid use. Patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication or its components, or who regularly or intermittently take nitrates should not use this medication. Patients with severe cardiovascular disease, severe liver failure, uncontrolled blood pressure abnormalities, recent history of stroke or myocardial infarction, patients with pigmentary retinopathy, and those under 18 years old or women should not take this medication. Co-administration with other erectile dysfunction medications is also not advised. Patients with penile deformities, bleeding disorders, elderly patients, renal insufficiency, liver failure, and those taking certain medications should adjust the dosage or use this medication with caution. During use, side effects like headaches, flushing, dyspepsia, dizziness, visual disturbances may occur; severe symptoms should be discussed with a physician. Sexual activity itself may stress the heart, so patients at risk for cardiovascular disease should check their heart condition before commencing sexual activity. Caution should be exercised during driving or operating machinery, as visual disturbances or dizziness may occur. When taking this drug with antihypertensives or alpha-blockers, there is a risk of excessive lowering of blood pressure, so usage time and dosage must be adjusted. This drug should only be used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and does not prevent sexually transmitted diseases. Overdosing may lead to aggravated side effects such as headache, flushing, dizziness, dyspepsia, visual disturbances, so prescribed dosages should be adhered to. Keep out of reach of children and do not transfer to other containers.
