Improvement of symptoms and urinary flow in benign prostatic hyperplasia, reduction of need for surgery
This medication helps improve symptoms caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia. It reduces the enlarged prostate tissue, facilitating urine flow, and decreases the frequency of acute urinary retention. Additionally, it reduces the necessity for surgeries like transurethral resection of the prostate or prostatectomy. Therefore, this drug is effective for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
As finasteride, take 5 mg orally once daily without regard to meals. Even if symptoms improve during treatment, a minimum of 6 months of therapy is necessary.
