This medication is used for the treatment of gastrointestinal ulcers such as gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers. It also helps alleviate symptoms of erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease and is useful for long-term maintenance therapy of this condition. It is used in conjunction with antibiotics for the treatment of gastrointestinal ulcers in patients infected with Helicobacter pylori. It is also effective in disorders of excessive gastric acid secretion, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Overall, it is used in the treatment of various ulcers and acid-related conditions related to the gastrointestinal tract.

How to take

Adult dose

Gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer: 10 mg orally once daily. Depending on symptoms, 20 mg may be taken orally once daily. Treatment duration is up to 8 weeks for gastric ulcers and 6 weeks for duodenal ulcers. Erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease: 10 mg or 20 mg orally once daily for 4 to 8 weeks. Urticaria, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, paleness, fulminant hepatitis, liver dysfunction, jaundice, acute interstitial nephritis, renal failure due to acute interstitial nephritis, severe skin reactions (toxic epidermal necrolysis, mucous membrane hypersensitivity syndrome, Stevens-Johnson syndrome), shortness of breath, asthma attack, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling.
