This medication is used for the treatment of essential hypertension. Additionally, it helps reduce the risk of death from myocardial infarction, stroke, and other cardiovascular diseases in high-risk patients aged 55 and older who are unable to use ACE inhibitors. It is particularly effective in patients with a history of coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, stroke, or transient ischemic attack, as well as those with high-risk diabetes. This medication improves health by reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

How to take

Adult dose

For essential hypertension, the dose is 40 mg of telmisartan taken orally once daily with water, regardless of meals. Depending on the patient, a dose of 20 mg once daily may be effective, and if necessary, can be increased up to 80 mg once daily.
