This medication is used to improve symptoms caused by atherosclerosis in adult patients with ischemic stroke, myocardial infarction, or peripheral artery disease. It also helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular-related death, myocardial infarction, and stroke in patients with acute coronary syndrome who have undergone medical treatment, intervention, or surgery. For patients with atrial fibrillation who have a low risk of bleeding and for whom vitamin K antagonists are not suitable, it is effective in reducing the risk of stroke and thrombosis. This medication is widely used to improve various vascular-related symptoms and prevent complications of cardiovascular disease.

How to take

Adult dose

○ Adults 1. In patients with ischemic stroke, myocardial infarction, or peripheral arterial disease, administer 75 mg of clopidogrel orally once daily. 2. In patients with acute coronary syndrome (unstable angina or non-Q-wave myocardial infarction), start with a loading dose of 300 mg of this medicine once daily on the day treatment is initiated, followed by a maintenance dose of 75 mg orally once daily. Precautions

This medication helps to keep the blood flowing by preventing platelets in the blood from clumping together. Patients with a genetic deficiency in the enzyme CYP2C19 may experience reduced effectiveness of this medication, therefore, in such cases, consult with a physician to consider alternative treatments. Additionally, taking medications that enhance CYP2C19 enzyme activity may increase the concentration of this medication and raise the risk of bleeding; thus, concomitant use is not recommended. Patients with allergies to this medication or its components, those already experiencing bleeding, patients with severe liver damage, nursing mothers, and those with specific genetic lactose metabolism disorders should not take this medication. Patients at high risk of bleeding, such as those with hemorrhagic disorders, problems with blood coagulation, those scheduled for surgery, the elderly, and underweight patients should take this medication cautiously, and should inform their physician immediately if symptoms of bleeding occur. This medication may increase the possibility of bleeding when taken with other drugs that elevate bleeding risk, so caution is needed when used in combination with such medications. During the course of taking this medication, it may take longer than usual for bleeding to stop, so if there is a bleeding site or if bleeding persists for a long time, immediate consultation with medical staff is necessary. Rarely, serious side effects may occur due to rapid decreases in blood cell counts, so if there are symptoms of fever or infection, consult a physician immediately. Some patients may experience side effects such as dyspepsia, abdominal pain, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, skin rash, etc., and abnormal symptoms should be reported to medical staff. It is known that this medication has little effect on the fetus during pregnancy, but caution is required as the risk of bleeding may increase during delivery. In the case of nursing, it is uncertain whether this medication is secreted into breast milk, so whether to continue breastfeeding should be discussed with a physician. Safety and efficacy in children have not yet been established, so it should be used cautiously in pediatric patients. In case of overdose, the risk of bleeding may increase, and since there are no specific antidotes, treatments such as platelet transfusion may be necessary if bleeding is severe. Finally, this medication should be stored out of reach of children, and it is advisable not to transfer it to another container.

Storage

This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to avoid exposure to air or moisture. It is important to maintain the storage temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius to safely preserve the effectiveness of the medication.
