This medication is used to relieve pain in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis (degenerative joint disease), pericapsulitis of the scapulohumeral joint, lower back pain, sciatica, and non-articular rheumatism.

How to take

Adult dose

For azeclofenac, take 200 mg once daily. This medication should be taken whole without chewing or crushing. To minimize cardiovascular adverse reactions, it should be administered at the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration.

Precautions

This medication may pose a risk of gastric bleeding for individuals who consume more than three alcoholic beverages daily; it is crucial to consult with a doctor or pharmacist. This medication may increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and cerebrovascular disease, so it should be used cautiously by individuals with cardiovascular risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, or smoking. Serious gastrointestinal adverse reactions such as gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers, and perforation can occur; hence, elderly patients or those with a history of gastrointestinal diseases need to use it with caution. Individuals with active peptic ulcers or bleeding, or those allergic to this medication or similar drugs, should not take it. Those with impaired kidney or liver function, heart failure, pregnant women in late pregnancy, nursing mothers, and patients with inflammatory bowel disease should use this medication cautiously or avoid it altogether. If symptoms like dizziness, skin rash, dyspepsia, abdominal pain, abnormal liver function, or difficulty breathing occur during use, medical personnel should be notified immediately. This medication may interact with other drugs, so consultation with a doctor is necessary for those taking digoxin, anticoagulants, diabetes medications, diuretics, lithium, or methotrexate. It should not be taken during pregnancy, especially in the last three months, as it can harm the fetus; women planning for pregnancy should also exercise caution. Safety has not been established for children and adolescents, so use is not recommended. Elderly patients need to be particularly careful as the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding and perforation is increased. In the case of overdose, symptoms such as gastric irritation, hypotension, respiratory depression, and seizures may occur, necessitating immediate medical attention.
