This medication is used to control blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension when treatment with individual components alone is not sufficient.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose for this medication is 1 tablet once daily, taken regardless of meals. For adults, the dose of Candesartan Cilexetil should be adjusted first, and if clinically appropriate, consideration can be given to switching to this medication for monotherapy. No dosage adjustment is needed for the elderly. Patients with decreased effective blood volume, renal impairment, or hepatic impairment are recommended to have their Candesartan Cilexetil dose adjusted, and severe renal and hepatic impairment patients should not be treated with this medication.

Precautions

This drug can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Individuals who are allergic to this drug's components or to sulfonamide drugs, women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, and breastfeeding women should not take this medication. It is also safe for patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment, certain genetic disorders, and those with angioedema or gout to avoid taking this medication. Patients with electrolyte imbalances or renal dysfunction may experience worsening symptoms while taking this medication. This drug lowers blood pressure, so it should be administered cautiously to patients with low blood pressure or decreased blood volume. While on this medication, side effects such as headaches, dizziness, fatigue, dyspepsia, and cough may occur; if symptoms are severe, consulting a healthcare provider is advisable. Particularly, if there are adverse skin reactions, eye pain, or vision loss, medication should be stopped immediately and a healthcare provider should be notified. This medication may interact with other antihypertensives, diuretics, potassium supplements, etc., so it is essential to inform the healthcare provider or pharmacist of any currently used medications. Elderly patients should be carefully monitored when taking this medication, as there is a risk of excessively low blood pressure or deteriorating renal function. This drug has not been confirmed to be safe or effective for children and adolescents, thus its use is not recommended. It is important to regularly monitor renal function and electrolyte levels through blood tests while on this medication. In case of overdose, hypotension and electrolyte imbalances may occur, so immediate medical attention is required if symptoms arise. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children, and it is safest not to transfer it to another container from its original packaging. Caution is advised while driving or operating machinery as dizziness or fatigue may occur.

Hives, angioedema, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweats, pallor, severe allergic reactions, severe rashes with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, mucosal pain in the mouth/eyes, severe skin reactions, difficulty breathing or breathlessness, asthma attack, respiratory distress accompanied by cough and fever, jaundice, widespread malaise, hepatic abnormalities (jaundice), sudden and severe symptoms

Mild side effects

Headache, back pain, dizziness, respiratory infections, symptoms similar to the flu, sinusitis, bronchitis, urinary tract infections, nausea, bruising, tachycardia, fatigue, abdominal pain, pharyngitis, dyslipidemia, nasopharyngitis, cough, weakness, sleep disturbances, depression, anxiety, loss of appetite, gastrointestinal irritation, diarrhea, constipation, myalgia, otalgia, hyperglycemia, hyperuricemia, electrolyte imbalances (hyponatremia, hypokalemia, etc.), orthostatic hypotension
