This medication is used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. It lowers the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke in adults with multiple risk factors for coronary heart disease and in patients with type 2 diabetes. It also decreases the risk of hospitalization due to vascular interventions and angina or congestive heart failure. In the treatment of hyperlipidemia, it is effective in reducing total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglyceride levels while increasing HDL cholesterol levels, especially in patients with familial hypercholesterolemia. This medication is used to improve cardiovascular health and control hyperlipidemia.
