This medication helps reduce the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke in adult patients with various risk factors for cardiovascular disease. It is particularly effective in patients with type 2 diabetes having risk factors for coronary heart disease or existing clinical evidence of heart disease. Additionally, it lowers the risk of vascular interventions, congestive heart failure hospitalizations, and angina. In patients with hyperlipidemia, it reduces blood lipid levels such as total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and Apo-B proteins, while increasing HDL cholesterol levels to improve the balance of blood lipids. It can also be used as an adjunct to diet in patients with familial hypercholesterolemia and is applicable for pediatric patients aged 10 to 17 years with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. This drug is effectively used for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and the improvement of blood lipids.
