Daewon Megestrol ES Suspension (Megestrol Acetate)

Adult dose

Shake well and take 625mg (5mL) once daily as megestrol acetate.

This medication should not be used by women who are pregnant or of childbearing potential, as it can cause serious harm to the fetus. Long-term use of this medication can lead to the development of diabetes or worsen existing diabetes, and symptoms of hormonal disorders such as Cushing's syndrome may appear. There is a risk of adrenal insufficiency after long-term use or after stopping the medication, so if symptoms such as hypotension, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, or weakness occur, immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is necessary. People with a history of allergies to this medication or its components should not use it. Patients with a history of thrombosis or vascular issues, as well as those with diabetes, should exercise caution when using this medication and follow their physician's instructions. Possible side effects during the use of this medication include diarrhea, rash, abdominal bloating, hypertension, insomnia, nausea, vomiting, anemia, fever, reduced libido, and headache; report any unusual symptoms. Rarely, serious side effects such as sensory disturbances, confusion, seizures, depression, hair loss, skin rashes, edema, chest pain, and infections may occur, so symptoms should be monitored closely. This medication is used for weight loss treatment, but it is important to first accurately identify and address the cause of weight loss. The risk of respiratory infections may increase with long-term use, so if symptoms of infection develop, immediate medical attention is required. This medication can be transmitted through breast milk and may harm the baby, so nursing women should not use it and should discontinue breastfeeding if necessary. The safety and efficacy in children have not yet been established, so it should be used cautiously in children. No specific harmful symptoms have been reported in cases of overdose; however, this medication is not well absorbed by the body, so treatments such as dialysis may not be effective. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, should not be transferred to other containers, and care should be taken regarding storage conditions.
