Precautions

This medication should not be taken with nitrate drugs or NO donors, as it may cause a significant drop in blood pressure; patients must confirm with their physician if they are taking such medications prior to use. Patients with cardiovascular conditions may experience increased strain on the heart when using this medication, and it should only be used after proper evaluation of cardiac status. Patients for whom sexual activity poses a risk to their heart should avoid this medication. This drug can temporarily lower blood pressure by dilating blood vessels, so it must be used with caution, particularly in patients with cardiovascular diseases. Patients with recent cardiac rhythm abnormalities, heart failure, unstable angina, severe blood pressure abnormalities, or pigmented retinopathy should be cautious as the safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established. If an erection lasts more than 4 hours or is accompanied by pain, immediate medical attention should be sought, as untreated cases can lead to penile damage and loss of erectile function. Patients with left ventricular outflow obstruction or severely decreased blood pressure regulation may be sensitive to the vasodilating effects of this drug. When combined with the specific antiviral known as ritonavir, the plasma concentration of this drug can significantly increase, raising the risk of side effects and requiring dose adjustments. This medication contains aspartame, an artificial sweetener, so it should not be taken by patients with phenylketonuria. Patients who are allergic to this medication or its components, or who regularly take nitrate drugs should not use this medication. This drug should not be used in patients with severe cardiovascular disease, severely impaired liver or kidney function, or in children under 18 years of age and women. Combining with other erectile dysfunction treatments is not recommended as safety and efficacy have not been proven. Men with penile deformities, bleeding disorders, elderly patients, and those with diabetic retinopathy should use this medication cautiously, and particularly elderly patients and those with liver or kidney failure should start at a lower dose. If cardiovascular symptoms or changes in vision occur while taking this medication, immediate consultation with a physician is necessary, and caution is advisable when driving or operating machinery. When combined with alpha-blockers, symptoms of hypotension may occur, thus dosage and intervals should be carefully managed. This medication's effectiveness may be delayed if taken with food, so it is best to take it on an empty stomach. In case of overdose, symptoms such as headaches, flushing, dizziness, indigestion, visual disturbances may worsen, and in such cases, it is essential to visit a medical institution immediately. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and it is advisable not to transfer it to another container.
