This medication is used for conditions that cause issues with the bladder leading to frequency or incontinence, such as neurogenic bladder, neurogenic frequency, and unstable bladder. It helps alleviate symptoms like urgency to urinate, frequent urination, and urge incontinence due to overactive bladder. This drug is used to improve symptoms by controlling unstable contractions of the bladder.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients allergic to this drug or its components, those with obstructions in the stomach or intestines, patients with weak gastrointestinal muscles, those who have difficulty urinating, patients with glaucoma, patients with muscular weakness, patients with severe heart disease, and patients with severely impaired liver function may experience worsening of symptoms if they take this medication. Additionally, patients with difficulty in urination, those with liver or kidney function issues, patients with Parkinson's disease or cerebrovascular disease, patients with hyperthyroidism, elderly individuals, patients with autonomic nervous system diseases or heart diseases, and patients with glaucoma should use this medication with caution. When taking this drug, one should closely monitor for any mental disturbances or symptoms such as hallucinations or delirium, and if gastrointestinal problems occur such as severe constipation or abdominal bloating, the medication should be discontinued immediately. Serious side effects such as arrhythmias, thrombocytopenia, renal dysfunction, skin rashes, acute glaucoma attacks, liver dysfunction, and muscle pain may occur, so if these symptoms arise, one should seek medical attention immediately. While taking this medication, it is important to check for similar symptoms indicative of other conditions such as bladder cancer or prostate cancer, and if there is a lower urinary obstruction condition such as benign prostatic hyperplasia, that condition should be treated first. This medication may cause drowsiness or dizziness, so it is advisable to avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. When taken in conjunction with anticholinergics, tricyclic antidepressants, phenothiazine drugs, or MAO inhibitors, side effects may be increased, so caution is advised. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant are advised not to take this medication, and breastfeeding mothers should also discontinue breastfeeding. Safety in children has not been established, so it is not recommended for use in children. Elderly patients may have decreased liver and kidney function, so it is important to start at a low dose with caution. In cases of overdose, symptoms may include delirium, agitation, seizures, urination disorders, and heart problems; immediate medical treatment is required. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children, and transferring it to other containers should be avoided to prevent accidents. Finally, prolonged use at high doses has been reported to potentially cause liver tumors in animal studies, so long-term use should be discussed with a specialist.
