Improvement in blood pressure control for essential hypertension
The combination therapy of Amlodipine and Olmesartan Medoxomil is used for patients with essential hypertension who have difficulty in controlling blood pressure. These medications help lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. The two components work together to dilate blood vessels and effectively control blood pressure, thereby reducing the risk of complications associated with hypertension. Therefore, this combination therapy is useful for improving blood pressure control.
This medication is taken once daily, one tablet, with water, irrespective of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., morning). The maximum dosage is Olmesartan/Amlodipine Medoxomil/Hydrochlorothiazide 10/40/25 mg. The recommended dosages are as follows: - 5/20/12.5 mg: Used for patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with the Amlodipine/Olmesartan Medoxomil combination of 5/20 mg.
The safety and efficacy of this medication for pediatric patients under 18 years have not been established, therefore its use is not recommended.
This medication should not be used during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy as it can cause serious damage to the fetus and newborn. If pregnancy is confirmed, treatment should be stopped immediately. Patients with allergies or hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients in this medication or similar drugs should not use it. It is also not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, patients with severe hypotension, acute cardiac problems, or severe impairment of kidney or liver function. Patients with decreased blood volume or electrolyte imbalances may experience side effects such as hypotension when starting this medication, therefore they should be closely monitored. Patients who depend on kidney function or have liver dysfunction should also be administered with caution, and regular blood tests may be required to monitor kidney and electrolyte status as necessary. This medication has a blood pressure lowering effect, which may cause dizziness or lightheadedness, therefore driving or operating hazardous machinery should be approached with caution. During the use of this medication, be aware of interactions with other drugs, particularly when used with lithium, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), or other antihypertensives; it is essential to follow the doctor's instructions. This drug may cause photosensitivity reactions, so excessive sun exposure should be avoided, and any rashes or itching should be reported to healthcare professionals immediately. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should avoid using this medication; it is also recommended not to use this medication while breastfeeding. While taking this medication, regular tests for blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels should be conducted to check for abnormalities, and if any unusual symptoms develop, consult a healthcare professional immediately. In case of overdose, symptoms may include hypotension, palpitations, dizziness, etc. If these symptoms occur, visit a medical institution immediately for appropriate treatment. This medication is not recommended for children or adolescents under 18 years of age as safety and effectiveness have not been established. In elderly patients, the dose should be adjusted and administered cautiously, particularly if there is decreased liver or kidney function.
