It is recommended for those with a history of coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, stroke, or concerns about organ damage due to diabetes. This medication plays a role in improving cardiovascular health by managing blood pressure and enhancing overall patient health.

How to take

Adult dose

1. Essential Hypertension Adults: The recommended dose is 40 mg of Telmisartan orally once daily with water, which can be taken without regard to meals. Depending on the patient, a dose of 20 mg once daily may be effective. If necessary, the dose may be increased up to 80 mg once daily. When increasing the dose, the maximum antihypertensive effect appears between 4 to 8 weeks after the start of treatment. Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn, especially during pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients with allergies to this medication, pregnant or nursing women, those with severe liver impairment, certain types of vascular edema, and patients with diabetes or severe kidney impairment should not take this medication. Elderly patients, those with hyperkalemia, liver impairment, and patients with heart valve disease should use this medication cautiously, as low blood pressure may lead to problems with the heart or brain. During treatment with this medication, various unusual symptoms such as infections, low blood pressure, muscle pain, renal function abnormalities, liver function abnormalities, and allergic reactions may occur. This medication may worsen kidney function, so regular monitoring of kidney function and blood electrolyte levels is necessary, and caution is advised if blood pressure becomes too low or if dizziness or fainting occurs. Co-administration with other blood pressure medications or certain drugs may increase the risk of side effects due to interactions, so consultation with a healthcare provider is essential. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should not take this medication, and nursing mothers are also advised to avoid it. Children under 18 years old are not recommended due to insufficient safety and efficacy data. In case of overdose, symptoms like hypotension, dizziness, renal impairment may occur, so immediate medical attention is required. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children and the packaging should not be opened until just before use. Caution is required during driving or operating machinery due to the possibility of dizziness or fainting while on this medication.
