Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who are allergic to certain components or medications. Caution is especially necessary for patients who have had hypersensitivity reactions to this drug or the benzimidazole class, or who are allergic to penicillin antibiotics or macrolide antibiotics. Additionally, it should not be taken with certain cardiovascular medications or antivirals, and pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid its use. Patients with impaired liver function, elderly individuals, and those with a history of drug allergies should be especially cautious when using this medication. During the course of treatment, allergic symptoms such as skin rashes, hives, and itching may occur; if any of these symptoms appear, the medication should be discontinued immediately. Regular blood tests and liver function tests are important to detect abnormal reactions early. Various side effects can occur in multiple body systems, including the heart, gastrointestinal tract, nervous system, respiratory system, skin, eyes, and urinary tract, so it is imperative to consult medical professionals immediately if there are any unusual symptoms. Prolonged use of this medication can increase the risk of osteoporosis and fractures, and may cause hypomagnesemia due to decreased magnesium levels, necessitating periodic blood tests. The suppression of gastric acid secretion could slightly increase the risk of bacterial infections in the gastrointestinal tract; therefore, if diarrhea persists, a hospital visit is necessary. Caution is advised while driving or operating machinery, as drowsiness or dizziness may occur. Interactions with other medications may arise, particularly when taken alongside antibiotics, antivirals, or anticoagulants, so consultation with a doctor or pharmacist is necessary. This drug should be swallowed whole and not chewed or crushed, and it should be kept out of the reach of children. The safety of this medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding has not been established, so its use is advised against. Elderly patients, due to decreased liver function, may be more prone to side effects and dosage may need to be adjusted based on symptoms. Safety for use in children has not been established due to insufficient experience. There is no specific antidote for overdose; appropriate treatment should be sought based on symptoms. If gastric cancer or serious gastrointestinal conditions are suspected during treatment, consultation with a specialist for appropriate testing is mandatory.
