How it is given

Adult administration

1. For cataract surgery and intraocular lens implantation, this medication is slowly injected into the anterior chamber before or after lens extraction via a needle or cannula. It should be injected before both intracapsular and extracapsular cataract surgery. 2. During corneal transplant surgery, after removing the corneal graft, fill the anterior chamber with this medication until it matches the surface of the cornea before placing the donor graft and suturing. 3. During glaucoma filtering surgery, this medication is injected to supplement and maintain the anterior chamber volume during trabeculectomy.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who have previously experienced allergic reactions to its ingredients or protein-based drugs. Ocular side effects may include occasional increases in intraocular pressure, and rarely, inflammation, corneal edema, corneal opacity, bleeding, vascular abnormalities around the iris, posterior iris ulcers, conjunctival attachment problems, pupil dilation, lens opacification, pain, itching, vision impairment, and corneal dysfunction. There is also a potential for clouding of the surface of the intraocular lens, and since this medication contains phosphates, calcification of the cornea may rarely occur in patients with severe corneal damage. Particular attention must be paid to intraocular pressure immediately after surgery, and appropriate treatment is required if pressure is elevated. It is advisable to remove this medication through washing or aspiration after surgery, if possible. Prior to ultrasound emulsification aspiration, it is required to perform aspiration perfusion to create a space filled with perfusion fluid between the lens and this medication. Avoid washing surgical instruments with solutions containing quaternary ammonium compounds such as benzalkonium chloride. It should not be used concurrently with the drug hyaluronidase and is intended for ophthalmic use only; it must never be injected intravascularly. Before use, allow refrigerated medication to reach room temperature for 30 minutes, and after opening, use it only once and dispose of any remaining medication in its container. When mixing this medication with air, care should be taken to prevent air from entering under the iris, and the injection should be administered slowly and carefully. Excessive injection into the anterior chamber may increase intraocular pressure post-surgery, so caution is required. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, in a sealed container away from direct sunlight, and kept in a cool, dry place. To maintain quality, do not transfer it to another container, and prevent misuse.
