This medication has an antacid effect, neutralizing stomach acid and treating conditions such as gastric and duodenal ulcers and gastritis. It also alleviates symptoms like heartburn and acid regurgitation due to excess stomach acid, and helps improve uncomfortable symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. Therefore, it is used for various stomach-related symptoms and conditions.

How to take

Adult dose

Take 1 g of Almagate orally, 3 times a day, 30 minutes to 1 hour after meals. An additional dose may be taken before bedtime if necessary.

Child dose

Children over 12 years old: Take 1 g of Almagate orally, 3 times a day, 30 minutes to 1 hour after meals. An additional dose may be taken before bedtime if necessary.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals who have an allergic reaction to this drug or any of its components. Patients with Alzheimer's disease and those with hemorrhoids should also avoid taking this medication. Individuals with symptoms of fluid retention or pre-eclampsia should avoid this medication. Those experiencing severe diarrhea or with unexplained gastrointestinal bleeding should also refrain from taking this medication. This medication contains lactose, making it unsuitable for individuals with hereditary conditions that prevent lactose digestion. When taking this medication, it is advisable not to use it concurrently with tetracycline antibiotics, as the two may interfere with each other's absorption. Individuals taking other medications should consult with a doctor or pharmacist, as this medication may affect the absorption or excretion of other drugs. In particular, it is recommended to adjust the timing of administration of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, ulcer medications, digoxin products, chlorpromazine, lansoprazole, prednisolone, penicillin, quinolones, and iron supplements to a 2-3 hour interval from this medication. Patients with impaired kidney function should be cautious, as magnesium or aluminum components may accumulate in the body, therefore long-term use of this medication is not recommended. Moreover, individuals who are physically weak, have inadequate dietary intake, or have absorption disorders should be aware that the aluminum component may interfere with phosphorus absorption, affecting bone health. Elderly patients and those with symptoms of gastrointestinal bleeding, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, and nursing mothers should consult a healthcare professional before taking this medication. If constipation or diarrhea occurs during treatment or symptoms do not improve within two weeks, the medication should be discontinued immediately, and consultation with a healthcare professional is necessary. Always adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage and administration instructions, and when administering to children, parental supervision is required. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children and kept sealed in its original container. Keeping it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight will help maintain its quality.
