Precautions

Do not use this medication if you have had an allergic reaction to this drug or other piroxicam preparations. Avoid using this medication if you have a specific type of asthma known as aspirin-induced asthma or a history of it, as it may cause severe asthma attacks. Individuals who have experienced allergic reactions such as urticaria, rhinitis, or angioedema while taking aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should not use this medication. It is also safest for children under 14 years of age to avoid this medication. Patients with bronchial asthma should use this medication cautiously, as there is a risk of exacerbation of asthma symptoms. Skin symptoms may include itching, redness, rash, scaly skin peeling, eczema, dermatitis, contact dermatitis, and red spots. Rarely, reactions can occur that increase sensitivity to sunlight, and if this symptom is severe, the use should be stopped immediately. Prolonged use in excess can cause systemic side effects such as nausea, gastrointestinal discomfort, shortness of breath, and renal dysfunction. Particularly, caution is necessary for those with kidney diseases, as there is a risk of acute nephritis. Remember that this medication does not treat the underlying causes of inflammation or pain but helps alleviate symptoms. When there is a skin infection, using this medication alone can mask the infection, so appropriate antibiotics or antifungals should be used in conjunction with monitoring the condition. When used for chronic diseases such as degenerative arthritis, other treatment options should also be considered in addition to medication, and attention should be paid to the occurrence of side effects. It should not be used during late pregnancy, as it can pose risks such as delayed delivery, bleeding, cardiac or pulmonary issues in newborns, and reduced kidney function. In early to mid-pregnancy, animal studies have shown no harm to the fetus, but safety regarding humans has not been confirmed, so caution is warranted. The ingredients of this medication may enter breast milk, so it is advisable for nursing mothers to avoid using it. The safety of this medication has not been established in premature infants, newborns, infants, and children, so use should be avoided. Elderly patients may experience side effects more easily and should use it cautiously at the minimum effective dosage. This medication should not be used on broken skin, bleeding skin conditions, infected areas, burns, or mucous membranes, nor should it be used with occlusive dressings. Caution is warranted when using it on damaged skin areas, as temporary irritation may occur.
