Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with hypercalcemia, which is characterized by excessively high calcium levels in the blood. Patients with hypercalciuria, where calcium is excessively excreted in the urine, should also avoid this medication. This drug is not administered to patients with genetic conditions that affect the digestion of certain sugars, such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Patients with kidney stones should avoid this medication as it may put strain on the kidneys. Individuals with a known allergy to this medication or its ingredients should not take it. It is safest for infants under 3 months not to use this medication. During treatment, it is recommended to avoid using specific diuretics known as thiazides, as they can dangerously increase blood calcium levels. Infants under 1 year and individuals currently undergoing treatment should consult with a doctor or pharmacist before using this medication. Children who receive adequate sunlight and have normal diets should avoid additional vitamin D or calcium supplementation. Patients with a history of kidney stones, sarcoidosis, or limited mobility (e.g., those in a cast) should use this medication with caution. Patients taking thiazide diuretics or experiencing pseudohypoparathyroidism should consult a specialist before using this medication. Pregnant women must adhere to strict dosages as an overdose can pose a risk of fetal malformations. Lactating women should be cautious, as the components of this medication can pass into breast milk and may lead to excessive calcium levels in infants. Patients with compromised kidney function or those taking other vitamin D preparations will need dosage adjustments, so consultation with a specialist is necessary. Patients taking phenytoin, barbiturates, glucocorticoids, or thiazide diuretics should consult healthcare professionals due to potential drug interactions. If any mental symptoms, consciousness disturbances, headaches, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, weight loss, or increased thirst and urination occur while taking this medication, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor or pharmacist. If blood calcium levels rise, symptoms such as arrhythmias, kidney stones, calcification of bone tissue, muscle pain, and joint pain may occur; if these symptoms manifest, consult a specialist immediately. When taking daily doses higher than 500 IU, it is important to regularly monitor calcium levels in blood and urine, and renal function; if abnormalities are detected, dosage adjustment is required. Infants who have difficulty swallowing the tablets can dissolve the tablets in water for administration. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and to prevent misuse and maintain quality, it should not be transferred to other containers. Additionally, store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
