How to take

Adult dose

Sildenafil, 25 to 50 mg is recommended to be taken orally approximately 1 hour before sexual activity, and if necessary, it can be administered from 4 hours up to 30 minutes prior to sexual activity. The dosage may be adjusted based on efficacy and tolerability.

Precautions

This medicine can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure when taken with nitrate medications that lower blood pressure, so it is crucial to confirm with the doctor whether you are taking any nitrate medications before use. Patients with cardiovascular diseases should adequately assess their heart condition before using this medication, and it should not be used if sexual intercourse is not recommended due to potential heart risks. This medication can temporarily lower blood pressure by dilating blood vessels, so special caution is needed, especially for patients with cardiovascular diseases. Patients who have experienced serious cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure, stroke, or myocardial infarction within the last six months, those with low blood pressure or uncontrolled high blood pressure, and patients with pigmentary retinopathy should not use this medication. If an erection lasts longer than 4 hours, seek medical attention immediately, as untreated cases can lead to penile tissue damage and permanent loss of erectile function. This medication may significantly increase blood concentration when used in combination with certain protease inhibitors, requiring dosage adjustments, and should not be administered to patients with certain genetic disorders. Side effects may commonly include headache, flushing, dyspepsia, dizziness, and visual disturbances, along with reports of serious cardiovascular adverse reactions. Caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery, as visual disturbances or dizziness may occur. When used in combination with alpha-blockers, hypotensive symptoms may arise, so dosing intervals should be maintained. This medication is not for use in women or patients under the age of 18, and elderly or patients with reduced liver or kidney function should start with a lower dose. In case of overdose, symptomatic treatment is required, and drug removal through kidney dialysis is difficult. This medication should only be used for the purpose of treating erectile dysfunction and does not have any effect on the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. Co-administration with other erectile dysfunction treatments or certain antihypertensive medications is not recommended.
