How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose of 25-50 mg should be taken orally approximately one hour before sexual activity, and can be taken anywhere from 4 hours to 30 minutes prior to sexual activity if necessary. This medication should be placed on the tongue immediately after being removed from its individual package and allowed to dissolve without water. Precautions

This medication may be dangerous for patients with cardiovascular diseases or those with very low or high blood pressure. In particular, it must not be used in conjunction with nitrate preparations or NO donors, as it may cause excessive drops in blood pressure. It should not be used in patients with unstable cardiovascular conditions or those with recent myocardial infarction or stroke. This medication acts as a vasodilator, which may put strain on the heart, so sexual activity is not recommended for patients with cardiovascular diseases. Additionally, if an erection lasts longer than 4 hours while taking this medication, a doctor should be consulted immediately as untreated cases can lead to penile tissue damage and loss of erectile ability. Elderly patients or those with impaired liver or kidney function may experience increased blood concentration of this medication, necessitating dosage adjustments. This medication should not be used by patients with phenylketonuria due to the artificial sweetener it contains. It is not to be taken with other erectile dysfunction treatments or administered to patients with specific heart conditions, children under 18 years of age, or women. Common side effects of this medication include headache, flushing, indigestion, dizziness, visual disturbances, and rare but serious cardiovascular adverse reactions such as vision loss or hearing reduction have been reported. Prior to taking this medication, it is essential to consult with a physician or pharmacist to inform them about other medications being taken and the current health status, particularly if there is a potential drug interaction with CYP3A4 inhibitors or certain antiviral medications. Caution is advised when driving or operating machinery due to risks of accidents from visual disturbances or dizziness. In case of overdose, immediate medical attention should be sought, as renal dialysis is not effective for drug removal. This medication is intended solely for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and has no preventative effect against sexually transmitted diseases.
