Effect of conduction and infiltration anesthesia in the dental field
This medication is used for conduction and infiltration anesthesia to reduce pain during dental procedures. Conduction anesthesia blocks sensation of a large area by anesthetizing around the nerve, while infiltration anesthesia involves the local injection of the anesthetic around the treatment area to prevent pain. These two methods of anesthesia help minimize discomfort for patients during dental treatments and facilitate smooth procedures. It is mainly applied to various dental procedures such as tooth extraction, cavity treatments, and gum surgeries. It is used to improve the treatment experience through safe and effective anesthesia.
For conduction anesthesia or infiltration anesthesia, use 6-40 mg of lidocaine hydrochloride (equivalent to 0.3 -2 mL of this drug). For oral surgical areas, use 60-100 mg of lidocaine hydrochloride (equivalent to 3-5 mL of this drug).
This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, it should not be administered to patients with severe bleeding or in shock, patients with inflammation at the injection site, or patients with sepsis. Patients allergic to this drug or similar local anesthetics, those hypersensitive to vasoconstrictors, and those with hypertension, arteriosclerosis, heart failure, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, or vasospasm should avoid use. Caution should be exercised when used in patients with central nervous system disorders, pregnant women, the elderly, patients with severe spinal deformities, or those taking certain anesthetics or antidepressants. Furthermore, due to the active ingredients, allergic reactions or asthma attacks may occur, so asthmatic patients should be particularly cautious. During use, shock or severe side effects may occur; therefore, if symptoms such as low blood pressure, facial pallor, irregular pulse, or respiratory depression appear, administration should be immediately stopped, and appropriate treatment should be sought. Serious reactions such as malignant hyperthermia can occur rarely, requiring prompt intervention if symptoms such as increased body temperature, muscle rigidity, or respiratory problems occur. Symptoms such as tremors, seizures, drowsiness, anxiety, dizziness, nausea, and rashes should be carefully monitored due to the potential impact on the central nervous system, and allergic symptoms like skin rash or swelling may also appear. When using this medication, it is always crucial to closely monitor the patient's condition and to administer the minimum amount at a diluent concentration slowly. Care should be taken to avoid the needle entering the blood vessel, especially when using a small amount in highly vascular areas, as this is safer. For women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, safety has not been established for this drug, so it should only be used when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks. Additionally, components of this drug may be secreted in small amounts in breast milk, so nursing mothers should consult with their physician before use. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to the components of this drug, so careful monitoring and cautious administration are necessary, especially regarding dose adjustment during spinal injections. Lastly, this medication is not suitable for direct use in the eyes, so it should not be used for ophthalmic purposes.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication may be sensitive to light; therefore, it should be stored in an opaque, sealed container. It is also important to store it safely in a cool, dry place to maintain the drug's efficacy.
