This medication is used in adult patients with acute coronary syndrome who need to be treated with both clopidogrel and aspirin simultaneously. It is especially effective in patients with unstable angina or non-ST elevation myocardial infarction who have undergone medical treatment or coronary intervention (including stent procedures) or coronary artery bypass surgery. It improves atherosclerotic symptoms such as death from cardiovascular issues, myocardial infarction, and stroke. Additionally, it helps to reduce the risk of stroke and thromboembolism in patients with atrial fibrillation who have one or more vascular risk factors and where vitamin K antagonists are not suitable and the risk of bleeding is low. It is effectively used for the management of cardiovascular disease and thrombotic risk.

How to take

Precautions

This medication is an antithrombotic agent that prevents blood clots. Taking this medication may prolong the time it takes for bleeding to stop, so if bleeding persists for a long time or is severe, you should inform your doctor immediately. Before undergoing surgery or dental treatment, be sure to inform your healthcare provider that you are taking this medication. Individuals with genetic variations in certain enzymes (CYP2C19) may have reduced efficacy of this medication and may have an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. There may be increased bleeding risk when used with certain drugs, so it is particularly not recommended to co-administer with drugs that induce CYP2C19. Individuals who consume alcohol heavily on a daily basis should consult their doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. This medication can cause gastrointestinal bleeding, thus caution is needed for individuals with a history of gastrointestinal diseases. Individuals with allergic predisposition or certain conditions (e.g., hemophilia, severe liver or kidney dysfunction, late pregnancy, breastfeeding, etc.) should not take this medication. Safety and efficacy have not been established for children or adolescents under 18, so it is not recommended. While taking this medication, if you experience symptoms of bleeding, gastrointestinal issues, skin rash, or other abnormal symptoms, consult your healthcare provider immediately. This medication may increase the risk of bleeding when taken with other antiplatelet agents, anticoagulants, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, etc., so caution is advised. It should be cautiously administered in the early and middle stages of pregnancy under the supervision of a doctor, and should not be administered in late pregnancy. It is preferable not to take this medication while breastfeeding. Overdose may increase the risk of bleeding, so it is essential to adhere to the prescribed dosage and seek medical advice if any abnormal symptoms occur. Store the medication in a sealed container out of reach of children, and maintain room temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius.
