This medication is used in patients with acute coronary syndrome, such as unstable angina or non-ST elevation myocardial infarction. It helps improve atherosclerotic symptoms such as cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, and stroke in patients who have undergone coronary interventions or coronary artery bypass surgery. It is also used to reduce the risk of stroke and thromboembolism in patients with atrial fibrillation who have vascular risk factors and a low risk of bleeding, and where vitamin K antagonists are not suitable. Therefore, this drug is effectively used for the prevention of thrombosis and symptom improvement in patients with cardiovascular issues.

Precautions

This drug may prolong the time for blood to clot, which can lead to prolonged bleeding in the event of bleeding, so if bleeding is severe or persists, inform a physician immediately. Patients must inform healthcare professionals that they are taking this medication before surgeries or before starting any new medications. Patients with genetically reduced function of specific enzymes should be cautious, as the effectiveness of this medication may be decreased and cardiovascular problems may occur more frequently. Taking medications that activate specific enzymes along with this drug can increase the risk of bleeding, so concurrent use should be avoided. Individuals who regularly consume large amounts of alcohol should consult healthcare providers as this drug may increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding. This drug should not be used in patients with certain allergies or bleeding disorders, severe liver or kidney dysfunction, or during late pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or ulcers should carefully monitor for gastrointestinal symptoms while taking this medication and notify a physician immediately if any abnormalities arise. Patients with a tendency to bleed or a history of blood disorders require regular blood tests and should avoid concurrent use of other medications that may increase the risk of bleeding. Patients scheduled for surgery should discontinue this medication 5 to 7 days prior to surgery and should resume only after hemostasis is confirmed. This medication may rarely cause serious blood disorders; if any symptoms of fever or infection occur, inform healthcare professionals immediately. Possible side effects include bleeding, gastrointestinal disturbances, skin rash, headache, dizziness, and abdominal pain. If any unusual symptoms persist or worsen, consult a physician. In early and mid-pregnancy, the use of this drug should be decided by a physician, and it should not be used in late pregnancy. It is safest not to take this drug while breastfeeding. This medication is not recommended for children or adolescents under 18 years of age. There is no special effect on driving or operating machinery while taking this drug, but individual responses may vary, so caution is advised. Overdosage may increase the risk of bleeding, so the prescribed dosage must be adhered to. If any bleeding symptoms occur, contact healthcare professionals immediately. This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to protect it from air and moisture and should be kept at room temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius.
