Treatment of erectile dysfunction
This drug is used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Erectile dysfunction is a male sexual dysfunction, and this drug helps achieve a normal erection by improving blood flow. Treatment can enhance the quality of sex life and restore confidence.
In adult men, the recommended dose of 50mg or 100mg is administered once daily approximately 1 hour before anticipated sexual activity by placing it on the tongue and allowing it to dissolve, without water. In some cases, it may be administered 4 hours to 30 minutes before sexual activity. Depending on efficacy and tolerability, the dose may be increased or decreased up to a maximum of 100mg. The maximum recommended dosing frequency is once daily.
This drug may put a strain on the heart for patients with cardiovascular diseases, so patients with unstable cardiovascular conditions should not take it. Patients with severe heart valve disease or significantly reduced ability to control blood pressure may also be sensitive to the blood vessel dilation effects of this drug, so caution is required. If an erection lasts longer than 4 hours, immediate medical attention should be sought, as untreated, it can lead to penile tissue damage or permanent erectile dysfunction. Patients taking nitrate preparations or drugs containing nitric oxide should consult a physician before using this drug, as it may cause dangerously low blood pressure when taken together. Patients with allergies to this drug or its components, recent history of myocardial infarction or stroke, or uncontrolled hypertension or hypotension should not take this drug. Patients with severely impaired liver or kidney function, hereditary retinal diseases, or those who have experienced specific visual loss should also avoid using this drug for safety. When combined with other erectile dysfunction medications, safety and effectiveness have not been established, so they should not be taken together. Patients with weak liver or kidney function need a physician's judgment before taking it, and drug concentrations may increase when taken with certain antifungals or antibiotics, requiring dosage adjustments. Side effects such as dizziness or headaches may occur during the use of this drug, so caution is needed when driving or operating machinery. Rare serious side effects, such as visual impairment or hearing loss, have been reported; therefore, sudden changes in vision or hearing should be reported to healthcare providers immediately. This drug is not for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women, or children under 18. Elderly patients, particularly those over 71 years old, should be more cautious in usage due to limited clinical experience, with a higher likelihood of adverse reactions. Overdosage may result in symptoms such as headache or facial flushing; no specific antidote exists, so appropriate treatment should be provided according to symptoms. This drug should be kept out of reach of children and stored in its original packaging for safety. This drug should only be used for the purpose of treating erectile dysfunction, and consumption should only occur after confirming the cardiovascular status sufficiently. Taking it with grapefruit juice may increase the drug concentration, so it is advisable not to consume them together. When taken with alcohol, blood pressure-lowering effects may be enhanced, so excessive drinking should be avoided. Co-administration with alpha-blockers may result in symptoms of low blood pressure, so when using both medications together, the minimum dosage should be initiated under the guidance of a physician.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This drug should be stored in a well-sealed container to prevent air and moisture from entering. It is also important to avoid direct sunlight and keep it at room temperature between 1°C and 30°C. Storing in this manner can help maintain the drug's effectiveness and prevent degradation.
