This medicine is used for chronic polyarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, as well as arthrosis and ankylosing spondylitis. It also helps relieve painful swelling and inflammation that occur after trauma or surgery. This drug is additionally used as an adjunctive treatment for infections associated with inflammation, pain, and fever to improve symptoms. It is effective for various inflammatory and painful diseases and is used to enhance the quality of life of patients by alleviating their symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

As dexibuprofen, administer 300 mg orally 2 to 4 times daily. However, do not exceed 1,200 mg of dexibuprofen in a day.

Precautions

This medication can cause gastrointestinal bleeding in individuals who regularly consume more than three drinks of alcohol a day; thus, consultation with a doctor or pharmacist is required. This drug may affect the cardiovascular system, increasing the risk of myocardial infarction or stroke; therefore, it should be used with caution in individuals with cardiovascular disease or risk factors. This medication can cause serious gastrointestinal side effects such as gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers, and perforation, especially in the elderly or those taking it for long periods; caution is warranted. This medication should not be taken by individuals with a history of gastrointestinal ulcers or bleeding, severe liver, kidney, heart failure, high blood pressure, or known hypersensitivity to this drug. Co-administration of this medication with aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may increase the risk of gastrointestinal side effects, so concurrent usage should be avoided. During treatment, breastfeeding should be avoided, and care should be taken when driving or operating machinery due to dizziness or fatigue. Individuals with blood disorders, liver dysfunction, kidney impairment, high blood pressure, heart failure, or a history of allergies must consult a healthcare professional before use. If any severe side effects such as severe skin rash, difficulty breathing, blood disorders, or liver dysfunction occur while taking this medication, use should be immediately discontinued, and a healthcare professional should be consulted. Use should be avoided during pregnancy, especially after the sixth month, as it may affect the fetus; consultation with a specialist is recommended. This drug should be used at the minimum effective dose and for the shortest duration possible; regular blood tests and liver and kidney function tests are necessary during long-term use. In case of overdose, seek medical attention immediately, even if there are no symptoms.

Drug interactions

Do not use other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, aspirin, or high doses of methotrexate while taking this medication. Before use, avoid corticosteroids, alcohol, digoxin, phenytoin, probenecid, sulfinpyrazone, sulfonylureas, ACE inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor antagonists, diuretics, lithium, coumarin anticoagulants, baclofen, immunosuppressants, thrombolytics, ticlopidine, and antithrombotics.
