This medication is used to treat primary nocturnal enuresis in children aged 5 years and older. It also helps improve nocturnal enuresis symptoms associated with nocturia in adults. These symptoms help reduce the need to urinate unnecessarily during the night, aiding in restorative sleep and alleviating discomfort in daily life. Therefore, it becomes an effective treatment option for patients struggling with nocturia.

Precautions

This medication works to regulate the body's water balance and is primarily used for the treatment of enuresis. Excessive water intake can lead to low sodium levels in the body, resulting in coma or serious side effects, so one should drink only enough water to prevent thirst. Individuals with allergic reactions to this medication or those with certain heart diseases or kidney dysfunctions should not use it, and patients on diuretics should exercise caution. People with hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, chronic kidney diseases, pregnant women, children, and the elderly should be particularly careful when using this medication. During treatment, symptoms of hyponatremia and water intoxication, such as headache, nausea, weight gain, and seizures, may occur, so if these symptoms arise, immediate consultation with a healthcare professional is necessary. Water intake should be restricted one hour before taking the medication and up to eight hours afterward, and it is important to limit to within 0.5 liters for 12 hours during kidney function tests. The risk of side effects may increase when this medication is taken with certain antidepressants, diuretics, steroids, etc., so it is essential to inform the healthcare professional about any medications being taken. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication only after thorough review of its effects on the fetus, and those who are breastfeeding should discontinue nursing. Symptoms of overdose may include headache, nausea, seizures, and loss of consciousness, so it is crucial to seek appropriate treatment at a medical facility immediately. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be transferred to another container as it is beneficial for maintaining quality.
