Treatment of duodenal ulcers and gastric ulcers (active, NSAID-induced), eradication of Helicobacter pylori, treatment and maintenance of gastroesophageal reflux disease (including erosive), and inhibition of hypersecretion.
This medication is used for the short-term treatment of active duodenal ulcers and active benign gastric ulcers. It is also effective for eradication treatment to prevent the recurrence of duodenal ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection and for maintenance therapy after duodenal ulcer treatment. It helps in treating gastric ulcers caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and reduces the risk of occurrence. It is used for the treatment of symptoms related to gastroesophageal reflux disease and erosive esophagitis, as well as for maintenance therapy after treatment. Finally, it is effective for the treatment of pathological hypersecretion conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Therefore, it is widely used for treating various gastrointestinal diseases and associated symptoms.
This medication should be administered before meals. Short-term treatment of active duodenal ulcers: administer 15 mg of Lansoprazole once daily for 4 weeks. Short-term treatment of active benign gastric ulcers: administer 30 mg of Lansoprazole once daily for 8 weeks. For eradication of Helicobacter pylori to prevent recurrence of duodenal ulcers: 1) Administer 30 mg of Lansoprazole with 250 to 500 mg of clarithromycin, and 1,000 mg of amoxicillin.
For children and adolescents aged 12 to 17 years: For the short-term treatment of symptoms related to non-erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease, administer 15 mg once daily for 8 weeks. For the short-term treatment of erosive esophagitis, administer 30 mg once daily.
This medication should not be used in patients with known allergic reactions to specific components or in pregnant women. It is especially important not to use it if there has been a history of severe allergic reactions to this drug or similar medications. Caution should be exercised when using this medication in patients with poor liver function, elderly patients, nursing mothers, and children. If any severe allergic reactions or symptoms such as skin rash or difficulty in breathing occur while taking this medication, stop taking it immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Prolonged use may cause issues such as vitamin B12 deficiency or kidney dysfunction, so regular monitoring is necessary. Additionally, since this medication reduces gastric acid secretion, it may increase the risk of gastrointestinal bacterial infections, so if diarrhea or abdominal pain persists, consult a doctor. There may be drug interactions, so it is essential to inform healthcare professionals of any current medications. It is safest to avoid using this medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and if unavoidable, it should be used under the direction of a healthcare provider. In case of overdose, seek appropriate medical attention immediately. Keep out of reach of children and be careful not to change the container.
Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, anaphylactic reactions, shock, acute interstitial nephritis, angioedema, bronchospasm, toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell syndrome), Stevens-Johnson syndrome, DRESS syndrome, interstitial pneumonia, interstitial nephritis, acute renal failure, membranous colitis, severe colitis with bloody stools, jaundice, toxicity involving elevation of AST and ALT.
