Precautions

This medication may pose a risk of severe lactic acidosis or hypoglycemia, particularly if renal function deteriorates rapidly. It is advisable to temporarily discontinue this medication and consult a doctor in states of dehydration, severe diarrhea, vomiting, fever, etc. This medication is contraindicated in patients with impaired kidney function and regular renal function tests are necessary. Caution is required when administering this medication to patients with cardiovascular disease risks; their condition should be closely monitored before and during treatment. This medication should not be administered to insulin-dependent diabetes patients or those with acute metabolic acidosis, severe liver dysfunction, or to pregnant or breastfeeding women. Older patients, malnourished individuals, those with irregular meals, intense exercise, and alcohol consumption are at a higher risk for hypoglycemia and should be observed more carefully while taking this medication. This medication can cause gastrointestinal symptoms (diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, etc.), which typically appear during the initial treatment and gradually subside. If allergic reactions or hematological abnormalities occur, the doctor should be informed immediately, and treatment should be discontinued. If blood sugar control is poor or abnormal symptoms arise, regular blood glucose and glycated hemoglobin tests are necessary to confirm the condition. It is important to avoid excessive alcohol intake during the course of this medication and to consult a doctor or pharmacist about potential drug interactions. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised not to use this medication and may need to switch to insulin therapy if necessary. Caution should be taken when administering this medication to children or elderly patients, especially the elderly, as dose adjustments and monitoring may be necessary due to impaired kidney function. In cases of overdose, hypoglycemic symptoms may occur, and immediate medical help should be sought; blood dialysis treatment may be necessary if required. Caution is needed when driving or operating machinery, and this medication should be kept out of the reach of children.
