Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used to help blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes. The active ingredients glymeperide and metformin work together to effectively lower blood sugar levels. It is primarily administered as an adjunct to dietary and exercise therapy for patients. This helps maintain stable blood sugar levels and aids in the prevention of complications. It plays an important role in healthy blood sugar management, so it is advisable to take it regularly. This medication improves blood sugar control.
This medication is administered 1 to 2 times daily before meals or with meals. The dosage can be adjusted based on the patient’s current therapeutic regimen, efficacy, and tolerability, along with appropriate blood sugar monitoring. Typically, treatment starts with a low dose, and the dosage can be adjusted based on the patient's current medications and blood sugar levels. In clinical trials, the initial daily dose was 2 mg/500 mg of glymeperide/metformin hydrochloride.
This medication may cause severe lactic acidosis or hypoglycemia, so treatment should be temporarily suspended if there is a rapid decline in kidney function or symptoms of dehydration. It should not be administered to patients with a kidney function of less than 45 mL/min/1.73 m², and caution is warranted when used with medications that may worsen kidney function. Patients with cardiovascular disease or a history of myocardial infarction should use this medication cautiously due to an increased risk of cardiovascular mortality. It should not be used in pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, nursing mothers, patients with severe liver dysfunction, or severe kidney dysfunction. Patients at high risk for hypoglycemia, those in a state of malnutrition, those with irregular food intake, and those performing intense exercise should closely monitor their blood sugar from the beginning of treatment. While taking this medication, regular meals and exercise should be continued, and blood sugar and kidney function should be tested regularly. This medication may interact with other drugs, so it is essential to consult a physician or pharmacist when starting or stopping any new medications. Symptoms of lactic acidosis include difficulty breathing, muscle pain, fatigue, and abdominal pain; if these symptoms appear, notify a physician immediately. Symptoms of hypoglycemia include headache, severe hunger, dizziness, and drowsiness; if these symptoms appear, consume sugar immediately and seek medical help if necessary. This medication requires special caution when administered to children and the elderly, especially in the elderly, kidney function should be checked frequently. In case of overdose, severe hypoglycemia or lactic acidosis may occur, and if suspected, immediate medical attention is required. Be cautious of potential accidents due to hypoglycemia or dizziness when driving or operating machinery. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers.
Urticaria, severe swelling (edema), difficulty breathing, severe allergic reaction, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), liver dysfunction, liver failure, sudden and severe headache, seizures, confusion, paralysis, thrombocytopenic purpura, severe thrombocytopenia, severe edema with elevated blood pressure, lactic acidosis, severe hypoglycemia, cardiac arrest, difficulty breathing.
