This medication is used for patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure control is not sufficient with monotherapy.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended adult dosage is one tablet containing Valsartan 80 mg / Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg once daily, taken with a small amount of water regardless of meals. Valsartan 160 mg / Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg is applied when prescribed for blood pressure reduction. No dosage adjustment is needed for patients with mild to moderate renal impairment. In patients with mild to moderate liver impairment, do not exceed Valsartan 80 mg per day.

Precautions

This medication can seriously harm the fetus during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients who are allergic to this medication's ingredients or sulfonamide drugs, or who have severe liver disease, bile-related diseases, or severe kidney dysfunction should not take this medication. Additionally, patients with specific physical conditions like hypokalemia, hyponatremia, hypercalcemia, or anuria should also avoid this medication. Caution is required in patients with pre-existing conditions like electrolyte imbalance, kidney and liver function abnormalities, heart failure, or cerebrovascular disease when taking this medication. Due to photosensitivity reactions associated with hydrochlorothiazide, there may be an increased risk of skin cancer, so exposure to sunlight should be limited, and skin conditions should be checked regularly. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur while taking this medication, so caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery. Potassium supplements or potassium-containing foods should not be taken without consulting a doctor, and care should be taken to ensure blood pressure does not drop too low. Patients with kidney or liver dysfunction should have regular blood tests to monitor electrolytes and kidney function. Hives, severe swelling (angioedema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, anaphylactic-like symptoms, angioedema, hepatitis, renal failure, hyperkalemia, hyponatremia, shock, syncope, loss of consciousness, agranulocytosis, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, aplastic anemia, hemolytic anemia, necrotizing vasculitis, toxic epidermal necrolysis (Stevens-Johnson syndrome), interstitial pneumonia, pulmonary edema, exacerbation of systemic lupus erythematosus, hypoglycemia, rhabdomyolysis, acute renal failure.
