Adult dose
For essential hypertension, take once daily 80 mg orally with water during meals or in-between meals at the same time if possible. In patients with renal impairment, fluid volume deficit, or liver impairment, the dosage should be adjusted according to the condition.
Child dose
Safety and efficacy in children and adolescents under 18 years have not been established, so use is not recommended.

This medication is used to treat essential hypertension and also helps to improve symptoms in heart failure patients who cannot take ACE inhibitors. Furthermore, it has been shown to reduce the risk of death in patients with reduced left ventricular function after myocardial infarction. Therefore, it is used for hypertension management and the treatment of heart failure and after myocardial infarction.

How to take

Adult dose

For essential hypertension, take once daily 80 mg orally with water during meals or in-between meals at the same time if possible. If blood pressure is difficult to control, the dosage can be increased to 160 mg per day and up to a maximum of 320 mg. For elderly patients (75 years and older), start at 40 mg once daily. In patients with renal impairment, fluid volume deficit, or liver impairment, the dosage should be adjusted according to the condition.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy in children and adolescents under 18 years have not been established, so use is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus when taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Pregnant or breastfeeding women, and women with a possibility of becoming pregnant, should not take this medication. Patients with severe liver or kidney impairment, those with specific liver diseases, and those with a history of angioedema should not use this medication. Elderly patients or those with hyperkalemia, mild to moderate liver impairment, etc., should take this medication with special caution, and dosage adjustments may be necessary. This medication can cause a rapid drop in blood pressure; therefore, when starting the medication or increasing the dosage, patients should be aware of symptoms of hypotension, especially those with low sodium or fluid volume. Side effects such as headache, dizziness, fatigue, cough, and diarrhea may occur, and in rare cases, serious allergic reactions or renal impairment may occur. Regularly check kidney function and serum electrolyte levels; if abnormalities occur, consult a physician immediately. Interactions may occur when taken with other antihypertensives, diuretics, or potassium-sparing diuretics, so it is crucial to inform healthcare professionals before taking. Caution is advised when driving or operating machinery as dizziness or drowsiness may be experienced. In case of overdose, severe hypotension and shock may occur, requiring immediate emergency treatment. Safety and efficacy in children and adolescents have not been established; hence, use is not recommended. Store in a place out of reach of children and do not transfer to another container.

Urticaria, angioedema, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in oral/ocular mucosa, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attack, respiratory distress associated with cough and fever, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), extreme fatigue, sudden and very severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, confusion, visual disturbances.
