How to take

Adult dose

For essential hypertension, the usual starting dose of Nebivolol is 5 mg once daily, taken orally at the same time each day. In patients with renal impairment, the starting dose is 2.5 mg once daily, with a possible increase to 5 mg once daily as needed. For elderly patients (aged 65 years and older), the starting dose is 2.5 mg once daily, with possible increase to 5 mg if needed. In patients older than 70 years with chronic heart failure, the starting dose is 1.25 mg once daily.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, those who are allergic to this drug or have bronchial asthma, metabolic acidosis, bradycardia, or acute heart failure may be at risk when taking this medication. Also, individuals with severely impaired liver or kidney function, or women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid this drug, as these conditions can significantly worsen side effects or the drug's effectiveness. Special caution should be exercised when this drug is used in patients with chronic pulmonary disease, heart failure, peripheral circulatory disorders, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, or the elderly. In such cases, careful monitoring and adjustments by a physician are required. During treatment, various side effects such as bradycardia, hypotension, worsening heart failure, dizziness, headache, dyspepsia, dyspnea, skin rash, and others may occur. Therefore, any unusual symptoms should be reported to healthcare providers immediately. This drug interacts with many other medications, so caution is needed when taken with calcium channel blockers, antiarrhythmics, central nervous system drugs, and hypoglycemics. Thus, inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medications. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised not to take this medication, particularly during early pregnancy due to potential side effects to the fetus. This medication is not recommended for children under 18 years, as its safety and efficacy have not been adequately confirmed. Elderly patients may have different responses to medication, so treatment should start at a low dose and be increased gradually while carefully monitoring blood pressure and heart rate. In case of overdose, severe bradycardia, hypotension, or bronchospasm may occur, necessitating immediate medical attention for appropriate treatment. Rapid measures such as gastric lavage, atropine administration, and blood pressure maintenance are required in case of an overdose.
