Improvement of hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia
This medication helps lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apolipoprotein B, and triglyceride levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia when used alongside a dietary regimen, and increases HDL cholesterol levels. It contributes to improving the blood lipid profile and reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. Therefore, it is effectively used in the management of dyslipidemia.
For adults, the usual initial dose of pitavastatin calcium is 1 to 2 milligrams once daily. If the LDL cholesterol-lowering effect is insufficient, the dose can be increased to a maximum of 4 milligrams per day. The dosage should be adjusted appropriately at intervals of 4 weeks or more based on LDL cholesterol levels, treatment goals, and patient response. The therapeutic effect of this medication is maintained with continuous use.
