Adult dose

For adults, the usual initial dose is 1-2 mg once daily of Pitavastatin Calcium. If the LDL cholesterol-lowering effect is insufficient, the dose may be increased up to a maximum of 4 mg per day. Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. It is not for individuals who are allergic to any ingredient in this medication, those with severe liver dysfunction, those with bile duct obstruction, those taking cyclosporine, those with myopathy, pregnant or potentially pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children. Additionally, it should be used cautiously in individuals with kidney or liver issues, those consuming alcohol excessively, those taking fibrate drugs or niacin, those with hypothyroidism or a family history of muscle disorders, elderly individuals, and patients with severe myasthenia gravis. Symptoms such as muscle pain, weakness, and liver dysfunction may occur during treatment, and if they do, patients should consult a physician immediately. Particularly, if muscle pain is accompanied by elevated creatine phosphokinase (CPK) levels in blood tests, it may indicate serious muscle damage known as rhabdomyolysis, so caution is advised. Liver function tests should be performed regularly before and after treatment, and if liver levels increase, discontinuation of the medication may be required. This medication may interact with other drugs, so caution is especially needed when taken with cyclosporine, fibrate drugs, niacin, or erythromycin. Acute renal function deterioration can occur when used in combination with these drugs, so consultation with a physician is imperative. Elderly patients may exhibit adverse reactions more readily due to decreased physical function, so increased caution is warranted during administration. Pregnant or nursing women should not use this medication, and those planning to become pregnant should consult a physician before use. This medication has not been confirmed for safety and efficacy in children, so it is not used for them. Store this medication out of reach of children, and keep it in its original container to prevent misuse or degradation of quality. Finally, since this medication is used for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia, it is important to check blood lipid levels before administration and to combine it with dietary and exercise therapies. If there is no therapeutic effect, the medication should be discontinued.
