This medication is used for the treatment of myocardial ischemia caused by hypertension or stable angina and other coronary artery diseases. It is also effective against variant angina caused by vascular spasms and constrictions. For patients with confirmed coronary heart disease who do not have heart failure or have normal cardiac output, it helps reduce the risk of hospitalization due to angina and the risk of complications from coronary artery revascularization. Thus, it improves cardiovascular health and lowers the possibility of related complications, enhancing the patient's quality of life.

Precautions

This medication should be avoided in certain patients. Patients with allergies to this medication or similar types of medications, nursing women, patients with severely impaired liver function, patients with severe stenosis of the aortic valve of the heart, and those in a state of shock should not take this medication. Patients with severe hypotension, those needing kidney dialysis, elderly patients, and women who are pregnant or of childbearing potential should use this medication with caution. This medication lowers blood pressure and dilates the blood vessels of the heart, but side effects such as flushing, fatigue, edema, palpitations, dizziness, headaches, drowsiness, abdominal pain, and nausea may occasionally occur. Rarely, severe side effects such as hypotension, vasculitis, neurological problems, gastrointestinal issues, skin rashes, and liver function anomalies can occur, so if abnormal symptoms appear, immediate consultation with a healthcare professional is necessary. Patients with heart failure or weakened liver function may experience prolonged effects of this medication, requiring adjustments in dosage, and care should be taken regarding interactions with other antihypertensive drugs when abruptly discontinuing this medication. This medication is not suitable for the treatment of angina in emergency situations, and it is known not to significantly affect the ability to drive or operate machinery. Interactions may occur when taken with other medications, particularly with certain antibiotics, antihypertensives, cardiac medications, or grapefruit juice, so caution is needed. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been established, so it is not recommended except in special cases, and it is advisable to discontinue breastfeeding when taking this medication. It can be used in pediatric patients, but the safety and effectiveness in children under 6 years old is not established. Overdose may cause severe hypotension and shock, necessitating immediate emergency treatment, and this medication is not eliminated through dialysis. It is known that this medication does not cause carcinogenic effects or genetic abnormalities even with long-term use. Therefore, it is crucial to take this medication exactly as directed by a physician and to promptly consult with healthcare professionals if any abnormal symptoms occur.
