Improvement in blood pressure control in essential hypertension
This medication is used in patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy.
The recommended adult dosage is 1 tablet containing 80 mg of Valsartan and 12.5 mg of Hydrochlorothiazide once a day, taken with a small amount of water and regardless of meals. The dosage of 160 mg of Valsartan and 12.5 mg of Hydrochlorothiazide is applicable when prescribed for antihypertensive effect.
This medication can cause serious harm or death to the fetus when taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be stopped immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients with allergies to this drug or its components, or those with specific liver or kidney diseases, should not use it. Due to its strong antihypertensive effect, caution is advised in patients with hypotension or electrolyte imbalance. This drug can alter potassium levels, so potassium supplements should not be taken without a doctor's instructions. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur while taking this medication, so caution is needed when driving or operating machinery. This drug can make the skin sensitive to sunlight, so proper protection is necessary during sun exposure. There may be interactions with other medications, so if you are taking any other drugs, you must inform your doctor or pharmacist. Regular check-ups of kidney function or electrolyte levels are necessary to ensure no abnormalities occur. Overdosing this medication can cause hypotension or abnormal heart rhythms, so the dosage must be strictly followed. Children, the elderly, and patients with heart disease should take this medication with particular caution and follow a doctor's instructions. Store this medication in a place that is out of reach of children and in a moisture-free environment.
