This medication is used for patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy. It helps to assist in blood pressure control, aiding in the management of hypertension.

How to take

Adult dose

Take 1 tablet of Valsartan 80 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg once daily with a small amount of water, regardless of meals. Valsartan 160 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg can be taken as prescribed if blood pressure reduction is necessary. For patients with kidney dysfunction, no dosage adjustment is needed for mild to moderate cases (creatinine clearance above 30 mL/min).

Precautions

This drug can cause serious harm to the fetus during pregnancy and should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. This drug should not be taken by individuals allergic to it, those with certain liver or kidney diseases, or pregnant women. Patients with electrolyte imbalance, impaired kidney and liver function, the elderly, and those with heart disease should use this drug with caution and require regular check-ups as directed by a physician. Since this drug lowers blood pressure, it may cause dizziness or drowsiness; caution is advised when driving or operating machinery. Potassium supplements or potassium-containing foods should not be taken without consulting a doctor, and electrolyte levels should be monitored regularly. This drug may interact with other medications, so if you are currently taking other medications, it is important to inform your healthcare provider. Particularly when taken with lithium, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), or other antihypertensive agents, kidney function and electrolyte status should be observed closely. If new skin lesions or unusual symptoms appear while taking this medication, consult a doctor immediately, and avoid sun exposure and ensure proper skin protection. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, dizziness, and arrhythmia may occur; therefore, the prescribed dosage must be observed, and in case of abnormal symptoms, healthcare personnel should be informed immediately. The safety of this medication has not been established in children, so it is recommended not to use it in pediatric patients. When storing, keep in a cool place out of reach of children and in a dry environment, stored in the original container.
