Precautions

This medication should not be injected directly into a peripheral vein without dilution. Direct injection may cause inflammation in the vein or a rapid loss of zinc through the kidneys. The amount of zinc contained in this medication is very small, so toxic symptoms are rare. When mixing this medication with other nutrient solutions, it is important to maintain aseptic conditions. Before injection, visually inspect for any precipitates or discoloration. Zinc administration can reduce copper serum levels, so it is advisable to regularly monitor copper and zinc levels. Since it is excreted through the small intestine and kidneys, patients with issues in these organs should consider the risk of zinc accumulation. In pregnant or breastfeeding women, as zinc can cross the placenta and be present in breast milk, the benefits and risks should be carefully evaluated before administration. Overdose may cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, dehydration, and dizziness, so caution is advised. Calcium may help reduce the toxicity of zinc. Keep out of reach of children, and store in a dry place at room temperature.
