Improvement of essential hypertension
Essential hypertension lowers blood pressure to a normal range, which plays an important role in preventing cardiovascular diseases. This medication continuously regulates blood pressure to prevent damage to organs such as the heart and kidneys. Once blood pressure stabilizes with consistent use, symptoms such as headaches and dizziness may improve. It is particularly effective in reducing the risk of cardiovascular complications such as myocardial infarction or stroke. For safe and effective treatment, regular blood pressure monitoring and following a doctor's instructions are important. It is used for the treatment of essential hypertension.
The recommended initial dose is 10mg once daily, administered regardless of meals. If blood pressure is not adequately controlled, increase to 20mg once daily. If necessary, it can be increased up to a maximum of 40mg once daily. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning).
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, and in severe cases, it may lead to death. If pregnancy is confirmed, this medication should be discontinued immediately. It should not be taken if there is an allergy to this medication or its components. It should not be administered to women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, patients undergoing kidney dialysis, patients with severe liver disease, or those with biliary obstruction. Patients with lactose intolerance should also avoid this medication. Diabetic patients taking aliskiren products or those with moderate to severe renal impairment should not use this medication in conjunction. Caution is required for patients with reduced blood volume or low salt levels, as hypotension may occur, and appropriate action should be taken immediately if hypotension occurs. Patients with severe congestive heart failure or kidney function issues should be closely monitored, as kidney function may worsen. Patients with impaired kidney function or kidney transplant patients should regularly check potassium levels and kidney function through blood tests. Caution is necessary for patients with narrowed renal arteries. This medication can cause hyperkalemia, so especially patients with heart failure or kidney disease should frequently monitor their blood potassium levels. Particular caution is needed for patients with aortic stenosis, mitral valve stenosis, or obstructive cardiomyopathy. Patients with primary aldosteronism may not respond to this medication and are not recommended to take it. Dizziness may occur when taking this medication; thus, it is advisable to avoid risky activities such as working at heights or driving. The blood pressure-lowering effect may be somewhat weaker in African American patients. Although this medication is generally safe, mild side effects such as dizziness, headaches, back pain, dyspepsia, etc., may occur. Occasionally, facial swelling or vascular swelling may occur; hence, consult a doctor immediately if unusual symptoms arise. Rare reports of abnormal liver function during use have been noted, so liver function tests may be necessary. If chronic diarrhea and weight loss occur, this medication should be discontinued, and a doctor should be consulted. Exercise caution when taking with other antihypertensive medications, potassium-sparing diuretics, or potassium supplements, as blood potassium levels may rise dangerously. Combining with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may pose a risk of kidney function deterioration, so renal function should be frequently checked. If taken with lithium, there is a risk of increased lithium levels and toxicity, so it is best not to use them together. Taking this medication during pregnancy may cause serious problems for the fetus, so consult a doctor if planning pregnancy or if already pregnant. If breastfeeding, it is advisable to discontinue either this medication or breastfeeding, as this medication may be passed into breast milk. Safety has not been established for pediatric use, so it should be administered with caution in children. In elderly patients, drug concentration may increase, so dosage adjustment and caution are necessary. Overdose may result in hypotension or cardiac arrhythmias; therefore, seek immediate medical assistance if symptoms arise.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
