Improvement of essential hypertension
Used to control blood pressure within normal ranges to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. This medication stabilizes blood pressure with regular use and helps prevent complications. It is effective when taken with regular blood pressure monitoring.
The recommended initial dose is 10 mg once daily and can be taken regardless of meals. If blood pressure is not adequately controlled at this dose, it may be increased to 20 mg once daily. If additional blood pressure reduction is required, the dose may be increased up to a maximum of 40 mg once daily. The antihypertensive effect usually occurs within two weeks of starting treatment and the maximum effect appears around eight weeks. If blood pressure is not controlled with monotherapy, a thiazide diuretic like hydrochlorothiazide may be added.
