Precautions

This drug can cause serious harm or death to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so treatment must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It should not be used in patients allergic to any of its ingredients, patients undergoing renal dialysis, patients with severe liver impairment, patients with biliary obstruction, and certain genetically predisposed patients with lactose intolerance. Special caution should be exercised in patients with low blood volume or low sodium, as hypotension may occur, and patients with impaired renal function or kidney transplant recipients should have their renal function and potassium levels monitored regularly through blood tests. This medication carries a risk of hyperkalemia, so patients with heart failure or impaired renal function should carefully monitor potassium levels in the blood. Patients with aortic or mitral valve stenosis and obstructive cardiomyopathy need special caution when taking this medication. Dizziness may occur during treatment, so it is advisable to avoid high-altitude tasks or operating hazardous machinery while on this medication. Common side effects may include dizziness, headache, abdominal pain, nausea, palpitations, and rash, while rare side effects can include angioedema or liver dysfunction. If chronic diarrhea and weight loss occur, discontinue use and consult a physician. This medication may interact with potassium-sparing diuretics, potassium supplements, lithium, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, so it is crucial to inform healthcare providers of any other medications being taken. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid this medication, especially during pregnancy, as it could pose risks to the fetus, requiring immediate cessation of use. Safety in children has not been established, and caution is advised in the elderly as drug concentration in the body may increase. In case of overdose, symptoms like hypotension or palpitations may occur, requiring immediate medical attention. While this medication is known to have a low risk of carcinogenic or genotoxic effects with prolonged use, it is important to consult a physician before and after treatment.
