View approved original text

When cilostazol monotherapy is not effective for ischemic symptoms such as ulcers, pain, and cold sensation caused by chronic arterial occlusion, a combination therapy of cilostazol and ginkgo leaf extract is used as an alternative treatment. Additionally, in patients with cerebral infarction, excluding cardioembolic cerebral infarction, this combination therapy is helpful in preventing recurrence. This treatment improves blood circulation and alleviates symptoms, thereby contributing to the improvement of the patient's quality of life.

Precautions

This medication improves blood circulation and inhibits platelet aggregation. However, taking this medication may increase the heart rate, leading to angina-like symptoms such as chest pain, so symptoms should be monitored closely. Patients at risk of bleeding, those who have experienced hemophilia or recent hemorrhagic stroke, uncontrolled hypertension patients, heart failure patients, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and lactose intolerant patients should not use this medication. Patients taking anticoagulants or antiplatelet agents, menstruating women, patients with severe kidney or liver dysfunction, diabetic patients, hypertensive patients, and patients with cardiac arrhythmias should use this medication cautiously and adjust the dosage under medical guidance. If symptoms of bleeding, heart-related symptoms, liver dysfunction, pneumonia, or other abnormalities occur while taking this medication, consult a doctor immediately, and discontinue if severe adverse reactions occur. This medication can also cause dizziness, so caution is needed when driving or operating machinery. As the medication is metabolized in the liver, the blood concentration may change when taken with certain medications, so consult a doctor or pharmacist if taking other medications. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take this medication, and children or the elderly may require dose adjustments based on bodily function. In the case of overdose, symptoms such as headache, diarrhea, hypotension, and tachycardia may occur, so caution is needed, and it should be stored away from direct sunlight in a cool, dry place out of reach of children.
